Education Enhancement Fund
(Sales Tax Diversion)

The funding elements of the sales tax diversion into the Education Enhancement Fund is administered in accordance with the provisions of the State Legislature.

Each month 9.073% of the total sales tax revenue collected during the preceding month is deposited into the Education Enhancement Fund. Out of this fund, restricted use allocations are made to the local school districts as follows:

Building and Buses

A fixed dollar amount, $16,000,000, is allocated for building and buses. Each district's allocation is in proportion to its prior year's average daily attendance bears to the average daily attendance of all school districts within the state. The district's earning is paid in 12 equal installments.

Instructional Supplies

9.61% of the monthly receipts into the Education Enhancement Fund is allocated for classroom supplies. Each district's allocation is in proportion to its prior year's average daily attendance bears to the average daily attendance of all school districts within the state. The district's monthly earning is based on the dollar amount of sales taxes collected the prior month.

Ad Valorem Tax Reduction

2.2666% of the monthly receipts of total sales tax shall be deposited into the School Ad Valorem Tax Reduction Fund. The proceeds of this revenue is to be used in the succeeding year to reduce the school district's ad valorem tax request to the local taxing authority.
