APA Process

On July 23, 2014, the State Board of Education granted approval to begin the APA process to establish the Mississippi Library Monitoring Rubric (2014). This rubric, developed with input from the Office of Accreditation as well as a team of library media specialists from across Mississippi, is designed to clarify requirements for library collections, programming, and facilities.

The rubric will be useful to library media specialists, principals, and district leaders, as they strive to provide library resources to staff and students.  The rubric will also be used to monitor the accreditation standard regarding the operation of library media programs. The rubric will be included in the Mississippi School Library Guide, scheduled to be released later this fall. Comments should be submitted through email or in writing no later than 5:00 p.m. on September 5, 2014. Comments may be emailed to leubanks@mde.k12.ms.us or may be mailed to Limeul Eubanks in the Office of Elementary Education, P.O. Box 771, Jackson, MS, 39205.

All comments must be received by 5:00 p.m. on September 5, 2014. Questions may be directed to the Office of Elementary Education at 601.359.2586.
