The Office of Procurement provides support to the program offices of the Department in accordance with state and federal laws, Mississippi Board of Education Policies, the Mississippi Agency Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual (MAAPP), the MDE Employee Policies and Procedures Manual, and the Personal Service Contract Review Board (PSCRB) Policies and Procedures. The office is responsible for reviewing and approving contracts for personal and professional services that fall under the purview of the PSCRB. The office reviews and approves grant methodologies and the discretionary and competitive grant awards entered into by the Department. The office also provides technical assistance and training to Department staff regarding procurement-related matters.
*FY 15 contract renewals that are effective July 1st must be submitted to the Procurement Office by March 4th so they may be approved by the SBE in April. PSCRB will determine whether the renewals are approved by their board in May or June.
*FY 15 new contracts that will be effective July 1st must be submitted to the Procurement Office by April 1st so they may be approved by the SBE in May and by PSCRB in June. Due to the scheduled implementation of MAGIC, it is strongly recommended that FY15 new contracts be submitted to the Procurement Office by March 4th so they can be approved by the SBE in April.
Background Checks of Contract Workers - If there is not a break in service from the prior fiscal year then no additional background check is required. However, if there is a break in service, then another background check is required. For more information please contact Procurement at 601-359-5716.
