Teacher Center TROOPS
TO TEACHERS
In keeping with the Mississippi Teacher Center motto of "Reaching the teachers our children deserve," the Mississippi Department of Education has brought another program on line that will do just that: Mississippi Troops to Teachers (MSTTT).
MSTTT actively recruits and assists transitioning servicemen and women to become teachers by facilitation and guidance through the certification process and follow-up job assistance and referral services. The response of Mississippi school district superintendents and principals to the program has been an overwhelming "thumbs up." Mississippi school district vacancies are also maintained on the National Troops to Teachers database.
At the present time, Mississippi has a strong corps of Troops to Teachers meeting our educational challenges, teaching in critical subject areas, such as math and science, and making a difference for at-risk children in the state's alternative schools. The unique blend of discipline, world experience and positive role image for our children has school districts demanding more reinforcements of Troops to Teachers. MSTTT is always on the lookout for qualified participants.
