Contracts         

01.       Mississippi Society for Disabilities.  $21,970 (subject to availability of funds).  08/19/05 – 06/30/06.  State funds.  Sole Source (Office of State Schools and Special Projects – Ron Love)

The contractor will provide language/speech screenings, evaluations, and therapy to Mississippi School for the Blind students, birth through twenty years, identified as being in need of such services during the 2005-2006 school year.  The contractor will provide a licensed speech/language therapist with experience in working with visually impaired children and one who is well qualified to provide this service.  The contractor is located in Jackson, Mississippi.  The Department was unable to reduce the amount of the contract by negotiation.  The contractor is not a former Department employee or related to a Department employee.

02.       Research Foundation of State University of New York (ESCORT).  $48,000 (subject to availability of funds).  08/19/05 – 06/30/06.  Federal funds.  Pool of Providers (Office of Instructional Programs and Services – Susan Rucker)

The contractor will provide the Mississippi Department of Education, Office of Innovative Support, with technical assistance and professional development in the following three areas:  Comprehensive Needs Assessment, which will identify and address the special educational needs of migratory children; Service delivery, which describes the services the State will provide on a statewide basis to address the special educational needs of migrant students; and Identification and Recruitment, which provides equity in education for migrant children and families in order that they are able to access all program services.  The contractor is located in Albany, NY.  The Department was unable to reduce the amount of the contract by negotiation.  The contractor is not a former Department employee or related to a Department employee.

03.       Approval of change orders for State Public School Building Fund (Office of Safe and Orderly Schools – Regina Ginn/Robert Campbell) 

The Office of Safe and Orderly Schools requests approval of change orders for construction projects.  School districts are requested to submit any modifications to an approved contract.

04.       Approval of final projects for State Public School Building Fund (Office of Safe and Orderly Schools – Regina Ginn/Robert Campbell)

The Office of Safe and Orderly Schools requests approval of final projects for state public school building funds.  School districts are requested to submit closing documents upon completion of construction projects.

05.       Approval of school district facility site(s) for the location of the construction of capital improvements (Office of Safe and Orderly Schools – Regina Ginn/Robert Campbell) 

Senatobia Municipal School District requests approval of a site for the construction of a new high school (grades 9 through 12 with an enrollment of approximately 900 students) located on approximately 34 acres on the Northwest Corner of Highway 4 and Stage Road in Senatobia, Mississippi.

02.       Approval to begin the Administrative Procedures Act Process:  To revise the Guidelines for Mississippi Educator Licensure K-12 to include an interim alternate route license

03.       Approval to begin Administrative Procedures Act Process: To amend the Guidelines for Mississippi Educator Licensure K-12 “Alternate Route One-Year Certification Highly Qualified Designation for Teachers not new to the Profession,” as recommended by the Commission on Teacher and Administrator Education, Certification and Licensure Development
