Title V, Part A - Innovative Programs

Purpose
 
  • To support local education reform efforts that are consistent with and support statewide education reform efforts.
  • To provide funding to enable state educational agencies and local educational agencies to implement promising educational reform programs and school improvement programs based on scientifically based research.
  • To provide a continuing source of innovation and educational improvement, including support programs to provide library services and instructional and media materials.
  • To meet the educational needs of all students, including at-risk youth.
  • To develop and implement education programs to improve school, student and teacher performance, including professional development activities and class size reduction programs
 
Use of Funds
 
Funds may be used for innovative assistance programs that may include any of the following:
 
  • Programs to improve academic achievement;
  • School Improvement programs;
  • Community Service programs;
  • Activities to promote best practices;
  • Recruitment, training and hiring of highly qualified teachers to reduce class size;
  • Professional Development activities;
  • Technology programs;
  • Instructional and Educational materials;
  • Adult Education and Family Literacy programs;
  • Gifted and Talented programs;
  • Alternative Education programs;
  • School Nurses;
  • School-based Mental Health services;
  • Pre-kindergarten programs;
  • Academic Intervention programs;
  • Service Learning activities;
  • CPR training in schools;
  • Smaller Learning Communities;
  • Parental and Community Involvement;
  • School safety; and
  • Programs that are researched-based.
