Welcome to the Walter Ingles Anderson Horn Island Project website.  The natural beauty of Horn Island inspired the art and journal writing of the famous artist and naturalist.

The purpose of this site is to support art and science teachers in collaborative efforts to teach students about the weather, tides, plants, creatures and ecology of Horn Island as well as the paintings, drawings, sketches and ceramics creations of one of Mississippi's most gifted and prolific artists.

To use the graphics, lessons plans and activities associated with this project, simply click on the " Lesson Plans" button on this page.  The idea is to download and save the graphic files, lesson plans, and activity sheets of your choice.  Once saved to your computer's hard drive, you can print  the graphics, lesson plans, and activity sheets needed  to prepare and present your lesson or mini unit.  Graphic files can be printed and turned into transparencies for use with your classroom overhead projector.

To download a file to your computer, simply right click on the enlarged picture you want and choose "Save Picture as..." from the pop-up window, then select or create a folder to save your file.  On the enlargement page, you can click on the right arrow to see the next picture or click on the left arrow to view the previous pictures.  Click on the up arrow to go back to the thumbnail page.  If you are viewing this page with a Macintosh computer then place your cursor over the image you want to download, hold down the control (ctrl) key and click your mouse.  Choose the option to "download image to disk".
