Division of Training
The Division of Training serves as a statewide resource for professional development and training needed to retain skilled professionals for managing Child Nutrition Programs. The Division plans and organizes required training events for those federal programs administered by the Office of Child Nutrition. Participating school districts, child care organizations and adult day care centers are kept abreast of changes and updates to the programs through regional and local training events designed to ensure compliance with federal, state and local requirements for providing attractive, nutritious meals to children and qualified adults. Training instills a sense of confidence and positive self-esteem through improved professional competencies necessary for managing a successful Child Nutrition Program. Therefore, designated school foodservice administrators, managers, child care and adult care providers directly responsible for program operations across the state are trained annually.
The Division also provides certification of school foodservice administrators and programs managers, as required by the Mississippi Board of Education, for those school districts or organizations participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the School Breakfast Program (SBP). This requires the development and implementation of curriculum that supports the professional competencies and expectations of school foodservice personnel managing Child Nutrition Programs while adhering to federal, state and local regulations and guidelines.
