End of the 2007 Regular Legislative Session Reports

House Bill 238, which provides funding for local school districts, passed both the House and Senate on March 29. The bill provides funding for the following key areas: full funding of MAEP, a 3% across-the-board teacher pay raise; a $500 raise for assistant teachers from $12,000 to $12,500; hold harmless funding for any district that would receive less funding in FY 08 than FY 07; $9,731,820 for insurance (from $339 per month to $356 per month); $10,669,390 for PERS employer contribution increase (from 11.30% to 11.85%); full funding for high growth districts and hold harmless Average Daily Attendance (ADA) to pre-Hurricane Katrina levels for the coastal districts. As a point of clarification, the spreadsheets that break out the "Hold Harmless Funding"; "At-Risk Funding"; and "High Growth Allocations" are for informational purposes only. These funding components are part of your TOTAL MAEP Allocation and are NOT additional allocations.
