District Request Licenses http://www.mde.k12.ms.us/ed_licensure/licensure_application.htm

If a Mississippi school district has a teaching vacancy that cannot be filled with a certified teacher, the district can request a one-year license for a teacher that is not certified. Applications for district request licenses are linked below. All 1-year district requests must contain a plan of action through which the teacher agrees to obtain fully certification.

• One-year License for Veteran Educators: this license is for teachers who hold full certification but are teaching out-of-field

• Three year Interim Certificate: this license is for teachers who are not certified.

• One-year Interim Certificate Highly Qualified: this one-year license can be requested by the district for non-certified teachers who have met requirements and been accepted into the Masters of Arts in Teaching alternate route program but are not yet ready for the MAT 3-yr license.
