The cooperative education program combines work-readiness preparation, related classroom instruction, and worksite training to prepare individuals for the job market.
Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management includes an overview of the travel/tourism, lodging, and food service industries. The program focuses on marketing, supervisory skills, front office, reservations, bell service, housekeeping, safety, customer service, communications, food service, banquet, catering, and employability skills.
These programs include competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, of an individual. Mississippi's goal is to ensure that all students are provided opportunities to learn, apply, and integrate marketing principles in a dynamic, global economy through the delivery of a quality marketing-based curriculum.
