Below are pre-defined practice tests to help prepare students taking the Subject Area Tests. The practice tests below are being provided so that students and teachers will be able to use the results of these tests to target instruction on competencies and/or objectives on which students are not performing well. The answer key provides the alignment to the framework and to the DOK level of the item. By examining results on the practice tests, both the teacher and the student will be better able to determine strengths and weaknesses, either for class groups or individual students. Please note that the operational SATP English II Test will have 85 items; the English II practice test has only 70 items. The operational SATP Algebra I Test has 65 items, as does the practice test. Because the standard setting committee, comprised of Mississippi educators, that will recommend the pass/fail cut scores for students will not meet until June 2008, the MDE cannot provide any information regarding the number of items students will need to answer correctly to obtain a passing score. However, using the practice test as a diagnostic tool to target instruction to address areas of concern is appropriate and should lead to improved student performance on the operational tests.
