State Board Policy: Policies for Subject Area Testing This policy was revised on 12/13/02
State Board Policy: Subject Area Test Appeals Process On June 15, 2001, the Mississippi Board of Education approved State Board Policy 7610 (formerly IHF-3), Graduation Requirements, Subject Area Testing Program Appeals Process. This policy addresses and outlines an appeals process for situations where a student, parent, or district personnel (1) has reason to believe, that due to a scoring error, a student who did not pass a Subject Area Test should have passed; therefore, an appeal for re-scoring may be made, or (2) has reason to believe that a student has mastered the subject area curriculum but is unable to demonstrate mastery on the standard statewide Subject Area Test; therefore, an appeal for a substitute evaluation process may be made.

The four Subject Area Tests (Algebra I, Biology I, US History from 1877, English II) are currently being phased in to replace the Functional Literacy Exam (FLE) as a requirement for graduation. For information on graduation requirements other than the SATP, contact the Office of Accreditation. |
