Federal Programs

The vision of Mississippi State Board of Education is to create a world-class educational system that gives students the knowledge and skills to be successful in college and the workforce, and to flourish as parents and citizens. In support of this vision, the mission of the Office of Federal Programs (OFP) is to provide leadership in the effective use of federal funds so that all students are prepared to compete in the global community.

The Office of Federal Programs provides leadership in fede­­ral grants management for Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) grants to public school districts and faith-based/community-based organizations. This office facilitates all programmatic activities to include application development and approval, technical assistance and training, and to compliance and monitoring for the following grants:

  • Title I, Parts A, C, D, and 1003a 
  • Title II, Part A
  • Title III, Part A (English Learners and Immigrant)
  • Title IV, Part B
  • Title VI, Part B Subpart 2
  • Title X, Part C

The Office of Federal Programs uses an outcome-based focus to achieve the following goals: (absolutes)

  • To collaborate across the agency in support state initiatives
  • To support district planning and implementation
  • To evaluate and monitor performance
