REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
21st Century Community Learning Centers The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE), as authorized under Title IV, Part B, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, is soliciting proposals to create community learning centers. These centers must provide academic enrichment opportunities for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools, to meet State and local student standards in core academic subjects; offer students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offer literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children through a competitive funding process. Proposals must be submitted to the addresses listed in the Request for Proposals. Deadline for receipt of proposals is on or before 3:30 p.m., March 19, 2012. The Office of Federal Programs will host a Technical Assistance training on January 26, 2012 and a Technical Assistance webinar on February 2, 2012 at 9:00 am.
