The Office of Reading, Early Childhood & Language Arts is committed to accelerating student achievement for every child in Mississippi. The Office accomplishes this goal by helping school districts improve the readiness and reading achievement of Mississippi students from preschool through twelfth grade. By maintaining a constant focus on the implementation of the Mississippi Reading Reform Model (MRRM) and scientifically based reading research, this office provides professional development and technical assistance to impact instructional strategies utilized in Mississippi classrooms.

The Office of Reading, Early Childhood & Language Arts oversees the implementation of the Mississippi Reading Sufficiency Program, the Mississippi Reading First Program, the Mississippi Dyslexia Program, the Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) Program, the Mississippi Even Start Program and the Mississippi State Reading Fair. The Office provides technical assistance related to early childhood programs, the implementation of the Mississippi Language Arts Framework and the state's assessment program for reading and language arts.
